Easy scrubs with Aromatherapy

 Aromatherapy Foot Scrubs

You can use either a sugar or salt scrub for your feet but a salt scrub will be more abrasive and perhaps more effective in removing stubborn dead skin patches. Make your own foot scrub by mixing the appropriate amount of salt/sugar with your chosen essential oils. Apply the scrub to the skin in small circular motions and leave on for about 15 minutes. Wash off and pat dry.

Essential Oils for Foot Scrubs

Some essential oils are more suitable for use on the feet, either because of their historic association with foot products or because of their therapeutic properties. The following essential oils are ideal for adding to an aromatherapy foot scrub:

peppermint (Mentha piperita)

rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis)

lavender (Lavandula angustifolia)

lemon (Citrus limon)*

* be aware that lemon essential oil is photo toxic and should not be used prior to going out in sunlight due to the risk of photosensitivity.

Aromatherapy Foot Scrubs Recipe

Below is an example of a simple aromatherapy recipe for foot scrubs. You can add in the appropriate amount of your chosen essential oil. This is a very basic recipe and you might want to add in other ingredients, such as honey, if you want to make a more fluid scrub.
2 oz sea salt/brown sugar
10 – 15 drops of your chosen essential oils.

Add your chosen essential oils to your salt/sugar and mix them together in a bowl. Store in a jar and use prior to bathing/showering. Keep any unused mixture in the refrigerator and use within 3 weeks.

Pamper Your Feet With Aromatherapy

We all expect our feet to carry out their daily purpose without any problems. However, if you make time to give your feet the love and attention which they deserve, you will reap the benefits in not only better looking feet but more healthy feet too!
